About Bernardo
Bernardo is a partner in CAR’s Rio de Janeiro office, focusing on dispute resolution, especially in the insurance and reinsurance, shipping and admiralty, ports and terminals, commodities, and energy sectors.
His work is geared towards complex disputes, often with transnational and multi-jurisdictional aspects, both in administrative phases and in judicial or arbitral proceedings (FIESP, LMAA, LCIA, ICC, GAFTA).
In addition to dispute resolution, Bernardo has experience in loss adjustments, issuing opinions on insurance and reinsurance coverage and general contractual response, emergency response, and regulatory issues related to the aforementioned sectors.
Bernardo is a law graduate, holds an LLM in Business Law/Maritime Law and a master’s degree in Legal Theory. He is currently a PhD candidate.
He speaks native Portuguese and is fluent in English, French, and Spanish
